Snow beneath the skis. Lava flowing in the darkness. An erupting volcano as a playground. For years,I had dreamed of skiing on Mount Etna during an eruption. When the opportunity finally comes,
with my friend Patrick, I set off for an adventure unlike any other: climbing towards the craters, spending the night beside a river of molten lava, and skiing down through a surreal landscape where winter meets the raw power of the Earth. A photographic story of wonder and the rare privilege of witnessing a living volcano at close range.
