MUR SAMIR

After two days of hiking through the remote valleys of Kyrgyzstan’s Tien Shan, we finally came face to face with the north face of Mur Samir (5,035 m). We set up camp on the glacier and spent the evening studying the wall, imagining possible lines. The following day, we climbed towards the summit, finding our way through crevasses and steep ice before reaching the ridge just in time for sunset. Beyond the mountains, an immense desert stretched towards China. Along the way, we met Torobek, a shepherd spending the summer with his family in these remote pastures. His world and ours briefly crossed, adding a human story to an adventure in the wilderness.
